Cooking Method: To cook Urban Farm Fried Rice is very easy. It takes only one step in your electric rice cooker. Just add dry rice, water, your favorite choice meat (leave out if for vegetarian), and all Urban Farm Ingredient (seasoning powder, seasoning oil and dried vegetables) into the rice cooker. Stir well and turn on the rice cooker switch. After the cooking is finished, stir again before serve. We recommend you pair with other sides like fried eggs or garnish with fresh vegetables.

Most moms agree that Mixed-Vegetables Fried Rice is always a family favorite. It is just so easy to cook and very nutritious. When peeking into mom’s recipe, we found Carrot, Green Peas, Sweet Corns the secrets that make this simple meal a very joyful moment.

I remembered growing up, Mom liked to make us fried rice in the weekend. Shhhh…..Don’t tell anybody, but I didn’t like it much. With all those carrots, green peas and corns, I had to secretly take them out. However, Mom always found out this bad behavior of mine and made me eat them. … Just for Mom, I tried...

Now I learned that vegetables are full of nutrition and good for my health. Especially when I now work faraway from home, much of eating outside and pouch-after-pouch of instant noodle really makes me miss Mom’s cooking. The other day, I went to a supermarket and spotted this Urban Farm-The Instant Vegetables. I can just add Urban Farm into rice in my little rice-cooker and I will get nicely looking rice with mixed vegetables. It is so convenient and delicious. If I were a child again, I would not ditch those colorful vegetables.

This weekend I am so glad to go back home to see Mom and Dad. I plan to cook this Urban Farm Mixed-Vegetable rice to surprise them. This is one way for me to say how much I love them. Imagine they will be very happy, can’t wait to see them.

Shitake

Shitake is a Japanese mushroom, which has robust taste and aroma. We then added in Garlic to compliment and the result is very tasty. Bon Apptit.

Our friends love to go to Japanese restaurants and we never missed a chance to order the Garlic Fried-Rice. Well… because it just tastes so good. I wish, though, if there are mushrooms and other vegetables in the fried-rice, I can enjoy it 3 times a day. I feel that sometimes restaurants added too much oil in their fried rice and we always want to watch our waistlines. Wouldn’t it be better if someone invent just oil-free Garlic-and-Mushroom rice?

The other day after I wrapped up my work and stopped by a supermarket, I found this Urban Farm – Instant Vegetables- Shitake and Garlic Flavor. This is exactly what I am looking for, all in one pack. They have mushrooms, pumpkin, carrot, and they did not forget to add garlic just for me. This time, the oily fried rice will have to make way for my colorful Mushroom-and-Garlic rice. I guess I will have to share this new recipe to the gang who loves Garlic and Mushroom as much as I do.

Cereal

Cereals are grains and seeds from nature. They are full of flavors and can make us healthy. While we like the crispness of Pumpkin Seeds, Black Sesame, the softness of Carrot and Pumpkin bits together will make an ordinary meal much more exciting.

I heard the TV People say Cereals are good for you. They contain vitamins and all those good nutrients. But look at it, isn’t it too much work to prepare, to wash and soak them? And, I also have to buy a bagful of each one, just to have some varieties. And for those who live alone like me, it will takes forever to finish them. Here is my wish………something easy to cook, easy to keep, and, most importantly, to have many Cereals in it.

Not long ago, my mom was visiting me. She still complained that my room could have been a little less messy. She brought along with her this “Urban Farm- Instant Vegetables”- Cereals flavors. She said the found it in a supermarket and like that it has Black Sesame, Pearl Barley, Pumpkin Seeds, Sunflower Seeds. Wow! What a wonderful mom I have! She gave a me few packs to try. Just add one Urban Farm into 2 cups of rice and add water like normal. I think it goes well with Jasmine Rice or, better yet, the GABA rice. I have to test this new recipe. Let’s see what my friends will say.

In every year Vegetarian Festival (Kin-Je), I enjoyed eating dozens kinds of vegetables, cooking in hundreds different ways. What if we can have veggie handy to add in every meal, wouldn’t this be a terrific idea? The more vegetables we add the more nutrition we will get and the healthier we will be.

But, well, in this time of year the prices of these veggies get crazy expensive. It is also a chore to store and prepare fresh vegetables. Keeping it too long in the fridge, I am afraid I will have to throw them away. That is why I can only buy a little and only a few. I wish I had a variety of veggies that I can easily prepare and eat every day.

Last weekend, my sister showed me Urban Farm –Instant Vegetables – V-Plus flavor and this is it. Japanese Pumpkin

Japanese Pumpkin is rich in multi-vitamins and is also colorful. When mix it with Sweet Potato, Taro, all will give the flavor in a sweet tone. The design of mouth feel has a softness of Pumpkin and gradual firmness of Sweet Potato and Taro. This intends to give plain rice something fun and a lovely taste.

Dad used to tell me a story when he was very young. His family did not have much money, so grandma always added Taro, Potato into cooked rice. Because these vegetables were very cheap, so they could have enough to share and get full. Think about it again, that would taste quite nice, wouldn’t it?

But now it is tough to our wallet to add various fresh vegetables into our rice, everything tends to get very expensive. Adding those vegetables, in fact, help making our cooking more nutritious than just the plain white rice. Our busy lives in the big city these days make it difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle. A lot of modern women now have to work a day job, too. Life is busier and a family is getting smaller. At times, to prepare a meal for a few members takes all the energy out of me. Especially for fresh vegetables, we have to shop, store, wash, cut, cook and also finish them before they go bad in the refrigerator.

I have bought this Instant Vegetables called “Urban Farm” in a supermarket close to my office last Friday. I am so excited! That evening I went back and cooked for my family The Japanese Pumpkin- Mixed Rice and everyone loved it.
